Everyone in Network Marketing desires long term residual income.  Only the most dedicated and most deserving ever find it.  There are 4 keys that you need to embrace and attack consistently in your Network Marketing.   The beach money makers do this well, and everyone else does not, it is that simple.

First:  Become a Leader in Your Company

How do you do that if you are just getting started.  I will tell you that the attitude comes first.  I hear all the time, ” Well he or she has a great attitude because they’re making millions”.  The truth is that in order for someone to become a leader, the attitude was there before the millions.

As a Leader in MLM, you need to

- Take responsibility for your success.  You can have either excuses or results but not both.  If you are not recruiting more than everyone else on your team, you are not leading.  I hear the whining all the time.  ” Nobody on my team is doing anything!”  You know what,   YOU are on your TEAM!!  Even better, you are the only one at the top of your team.  Think about that for a minute.

- Learn your metrics.  You have to know your target audience and you have to know their “Hot Buttons”.  Know what they want and show them how to get it.

- Create a Marketing System in order to produce an unending supply of quality leads.   You have to have your own Lead Generation System and it has got to be profitable in and of itself.

Second: Concentrate on Creating a Huge Supply of Loyal Product Users.

Too many Network Marketers concentrate solely on recruiting Business Opportunity Seekers.  That is important, for sure.   You do want as many fishing poles in the water as you can possibly have but the product users are the key to long term residual income.  If you and your team are consistently  adding loyal product users to your organization, long term residual income will follow.

Third: Use a Duplicable Lead Generation System

You have to create or use a system that offers a solution to your target audience and then you have to have a way to drive them to your website.  That is only half the game though and most Internet Marketers stop there.  It’s great to have 1000 visitors a day to your website but if they don’t become quality leads and customers, it doesn’t do you any good.  Its better to have 100 visitors a day that take action than 1000 that do not. So this brings us to the fourth key.

Fourth: Get Your Visitors or Prospects to Take Action

You have to be able to close.  You do this by providing value and a solution to their problem in a compelling manner.  If you are not providing value to your visitors or they are unable to see the value in what you are offering, they are gone.  This has to be a win win situation.  You really need to over deliver on your products.  Once they take action, you will need a good follow up system in place with a combination of email as well as using the telephone.

Conclusion:

You can do this in one of two ways.

1) Design your own website, set up your own capture pages, design your own materials including ebooks, video and email marketing programs and make the system duplicable.  This is not very practical for most people.  You will be competing with systems and monsters in the Online Marketing Industry that spend and make fortunes each year on there systems.

2) Find a System that  you can make your own, pays you to learn through affiliate marketing, and is flexible enough that it allows you to market in multiple ways modeling the techniques of leaders in the industry.

My first experience with Cedrick Harris was listening to him speak on a webinar for MLM Lead System Pro earlier this year and was surprised to find myself riveted to the computer screen trying to soak up every ounce of information he was giving away.   The word Dynamic does not even begin to describe Cedrick.9791_caddy_pics_728_025

There are many programs and many formulas for helping you build your MLM Business but the bottom line is that it is up to you to step up and make it happen.

You need to get over whatever is holding you back and work hard to plow through all the phases of MLM growth.

Yes you need leads, but unless you grow enough to build your team you will eventually fail.  The phases of growth of any MLM are:

1) Recruitment.

You need to recruit a large number of people into your MLM opportunity.  I can show you how to do this but it is up to you to do it.  You never, ever want to stop front line recruiting into your MLM.  It doesn’t matter if your team continues to grow without you.  There is not one reason for you to ever stop frontline recruiting.

2) Duplication.

You do not strive to duplicate yourself because you are unique and you need to celebrate that uniqueness in order to build a team.  What you have to duplicate is the system and tools for success.

3) Team Building.

Once your team has started to grow, you need to identify the builders on your team and work with them.  Your efforts need to be directed at the individuals that are getting results.  Yes, you provide tools for everyone, but work with the winners.  Work with the individuals that are self-motivated and making it happen.  You can work through the other people on your team, as they know people you don’t, and you there resources to find more builders.

4) Leadership Development.

This is the final and most crucial step for generating lasting and ongoing residual income.  Find leaders withing the group of builders, develop builders into leaders, and most importantly get out of their way.  Help them all you can but do not sabotage who they are and realize that leaders will lock you downline beneath you if you support them completely.

When you realize that your downline growth and size will be the result of 5 or 6 leaders beneath you, it becomes obvious that you will need to sift through a huge number of people to find them.  So many people are hung up on why their downline isn’t doing anything.  Well the truth of the matter is that they are not supposed to do anything.  You simply haven’t found enough people.

The common question I get is ” How many is enough?”  I don’t know.  The question you should be asking is ,  ” How bad do I want this?”

Who is the Master Prospector?  How do I become a Master Prospector?

Every person who deserves to be a leader in Network Marketing has got to find the answers to these questions.  Prospecting is the Heart and Soul of Recruiting people into your business, but it goes beyond simply recruiting.  The Master Prospector also understands that by asking the right questions AND more importantly, LISTENING to what the prospect means (not just what he or she says) is the big difference between their success in building and everyone else.

The difference between the best prospectors and everyone else is that Master Prospectors sort.  They do not sell.  You may have heard this before but have you really HEARD it and internalized it.

Here’s the difference between sorting and selling.

Sales people tend to place their energy into persuading, converting and manipulating people and spend all of their time in closing mode.

The efficient prospector who sorts through people acts differently.  They spend more than 80% of their time listening.  They listen for clues and signs that will differentiate a good prospect from the rest.  They listen for How questions not Why questions.  The remaining 20% of the time is spent asking qualifying questions.  The key to this formula is that you really need to understand what a person means, not simply what they say.

One also has to understand that this is a numbers game.  If you are simply sorting through people and you understand that 1 out of 10 people you talk to will sign up in your business, than the number a people you sign up is completely up to you.  If your number is 6 out of 10 then the number of people you sign up is completely up to you.

Very few people will ever talk to enough people in order to:

1) get good at the process

2) sign enough people into their opportunity before they quit.

The vast majority of people will have so much fear of rejection that they will never have enough numbers to get their business rolling.   The next step for these people is to blame everyone and everything except themselves.  This is a process that every successful Network Marketer has gone through.  The people sitting in the front row at your National Meetings, have heard no more times than anyone else.

The bottom line is that you need to be efficient and effective in your prospecting.  You need to learn how to collect a decision and move on.   It is also very important to become emotionally detached from the outcome.

I will show the exact same emotional response for the guy that says, “I’m telling you, I am going to get to the top of this company faster than anyone else.” as for the guy that says, “This is one of those pyramids.  I can’t believe you are doing one of those.”

You need to learn that nothing is personal.

In order to have success in this process and build your business, you not only need to become good at prospecting, you also need a system for generating quality leads.  Once you have a system that generates more leads than you have time, you are on your way, provided that you learn the techniques of prospecting.

Here are some strategies to keep in mind:

1) Invest into your self

2) Take a daily inventory .  “What did I do today that moved me closer to my goals or further from my goals?”

3) Learn from the Process. Take time to live in the now and fully engage in the process in order to get better.

4) Develop Great Habits that create Results and do them everyday.  You need to refine those habits to maximize results

5) Constantly ask yourself “How do I turn time into Money?”

6) Dissect out your Plan for Achieving the Goals that you Set!!  ( you can’t just think big, you have to act big also)

7) Maximize your Lead Generation System and Work the Numbers.

8) Spend the Vast Majority of your Time on Revenue Producing activities.

So once you get over your phone fears and you are able to simply be you, what are the mechanics of prospecting.  Lets assume you have an unlimited source of leads.  If you don’t,  I can show you how to get there with both online and offline techniques.

Once you have more leads than you have time, your business is waiting for you and everyday you will have success.

So what do you do when you have a list of leads sitting in front of you?

Prospecting is 20% asking appropriate and knowledge seeking questions and 80% active listening.  You need to hear what your prospect means, not just what they say.

So what do you need to learn from your prospect?

Interest Level:

It doesn’t matter how clean, fresh and immediate your leads are at the time you call them.  You can not assume that they are interested.  If you simply ask the proper question at the beginning, it will save you a large amount of time.

For Example:  Hello, Joe.  My name is David Heon and I’m calling you from ____________.  How are you?  The reason I’m calling is that you responded to an advertisement indicating that you are interested in generating income from the comfort of your home.  IS THIS STILL THE CASE?

The answer to that question determines whether you proceed or not, doesn’t it?
Knowledge:

Does your prospect have a working knowledge of the industry.  This is the next item you need to determine. You see if your prospect doesn’t have a basic understanding of the MLM business model it requires a different mindset.  You need to understand that just because they do not understand the MLM business model does not mean they are not worth your time.

The key is that you need to determine whether the person is asking HOW questions or WHY questions.

Why:

Finding a persons “WHY” and how big is their “WHY” ,  is very important. The success that anyone person has when they sign up into your MLM company is their responsibility.  It is not your responsibility.  You are responsible for showing them the information as well as helping and teaching those that are motivated.

The last thing you want to do is to try to manage your downline.  Can you say “recipe for disaster”?  You need to lead your downline not manage them.  Lead by example.  People want to be led not managed.  If you placed 15 people into your MLM company this month, what excuses can they possibly have for you if they have placed none?

There are several reason that people have in common and it is important that you find out why they want to start a home-based business and what they want out of the business.  By doing this, you will  make a connection with your prospect.  People are not sold on opportunities.  They are sold on you.

There is a difference between selling and marketing.  Selling is about getting the person to buy a product.  Marketing is about getting the person to buy you.  If you can find out their problem and you can show them that you have a solution to that problem, it’s a done deal.

Exposure:

If they understand  Network Marketing, move on and expose them to the presentation.  If they don’t understand the industry you probably need to educate them a bit before the presentation.  Most company presentations however do take time to explain the MLM model and how it applies to their opportunity and the presentation can usually explain it better then you can over the phone.  You may have a different presentation to show depending on the persons knowledge level.

Closing:

Some people think of this process with uncomfortable feelings.  Are you afraid to ask people for a decision and show them how to get started?  If you are, you may want to resolve those issues before you even begin the process.

Looking at closing as a final step is not truly accurate because if you have made it through all the above steps for the right reasons with the right prospect, then this step is easy.

This step is simply collecting the final decision.  You can not take it personally and you can not get emotional about the decision, positive or negative.  It is either a fit or it is not a fit.  Collect the decision and move on to the next.

I have found that people that have problems with this step do not have a big enough “WHY” themselves.  If that is the case you have two choices.  Make your “WHY” bigger then your anxiety or quit and go back to your job.

Everyone wants to Attract quality people into your MLM Opportunity.  The fact is that you attract into your reality exactly what you are and how others feel about you and your leadership abilities.  No matter what it is that you do in your life, you require other people to make you life successful and worthwhile.

I have learned from my friend and mentor, Jeffery Combs, that the most essential element for success for entrepreneurs is learning how to attract people that will continually bring joy into your life.

If you take a look at any successful entrepreneur and you listen to their story, you will undoubtedly find that if they did not have the appropriate direct support, they found a way to mentor successful people around them.  Take a look at the stories from Anthony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Big Al Schrieder, Donald Trump, Marc Accetta, and Jeffery Combs.

Here are some of the Keys to Attracting Quality People.

1) Work on you self-esteem.

A negative self image is very obvious and will only attract negative people.  Attracting the people you want will always begin with you.  Look in the mirror and ask yourself, why would I want to connect with you? Realize that you attract to your reality exactly who you are.

2) The first Impression:

Multiple studies have shown that a person decides whether they are going to join your opportunity within the first 10 seconds or less.  What do they say about first impressions?  If that is true, then it really doesn’t matter what your opportunity is, what the compensation plan is or how cool is your slide show.

The decision to join is based upon you and your prospects perception of you.   That is usually quite a revelation for most people.  If you talk to anyone in Network Marketing, you will hear how they have the best this and the best that.  IT DOESN’T MATTER.

Evidence of this is that you will see dramatically successful people in every MLM company.  So the objective evidence is that the opportunity does not matter.  Only you and your attraction qualities matter.

3) Body Language:

More than 60% of communication is non-verbal.  So the way you carry yourself and present yourself is more important than what you say.  Everyone is so concerned with exactly what and how you say your clever lines.  What is more important is how you come across with your posture.  You can’t fake how you carry yourself.

4) Work on Listening.

You should spend about 80% of your time listening to what people mean, not just what they say.  By listening you will uncover peoples beliefs, attitudes, viewpoints, past experiences, and expectations.

I always say that in order to successful, you have to act that way first.  The attitude comes before the millions.

Everyone wants to know how to Get MLM Results and how to get MLM Success.  Everyone around you is showing you the next great opportunity, the next great lead generation system, the next great product to explode your business.  These things are important and I have talked about them extensively on this blog.

Unfortunately, unless you are able to Train Your Mind, the greatest system on the internet is not going to help you much.  You are responsible for your results.  Only YOU.

For some of you, that is good news.  That means that it is up to you and you will do whatever it takes.  For the rest of you, you look at that statement and cringe.

Fear is a primordial instinct.  Your mind is not set up to show you how to be successful and happy in life.  Your subconscious mind, which runs our lives by the way, is set up to keep you alive.  It is constantly reacting to situations through fear, worry, skepticism, and doubt.   Unfortunately, these reactions are a result of your past experiences and most people in life, live their lives according to these rules that were established outside of our control.

Successful people have these same reactions to situations.  The difference is that they work through them in-spite of their fear, worry, self-doubt, and skepticism.

Yes it is important to listen to your mind, but it is more important to objectively recognize your thoughts and evaluate them instead of just reacting to them.   Evaluate them and ask yourself this question.

Is this thought an empowering thought or not.  Is this thought going to help me succeed or prevent me from reaching my goals.

Success in MLM, and in anyother venture in life, is a product of how much ACTION we take despite our fear. 

Fear is an emotion about the uncertainty of the future based upon the rules set up in your mind about past experiences.

Action is in the present.  Once you engage in the action, the fear disappears.  You will only realize this once you are strong enough to take action.

You have to start by taking action! Don’t think, just do it!

Train your mind to constantly get going especially if you don’t feel comfortable or you don’t feel like it. You may not succeed but who cares.  If you are worried about what other people are going to think of you,  then I got news for you.  They already think and talk about you.  When you are successful, they think and talk about you even more.  Your attitude will change quickly once you start taking action.  If you are one of the few who will do this consistently, your MLM Results and your MLM Success will follow.  It’s biological and psychological.

If you consistently have a  difficult time getting over that hump then join the club.  Concentrate on  what you are thinking about that makes you scared or not feel like it.   It’s going to be too hard? Too painful to complete? Take more time than you want it to?

Most of the time you are exaggerating but even if any of that was remotely true–  and just so you know, almost always  it isn’t — realize that no one is going to get the results they deserve with these disabling thoughts.   You can make the best of it or the worst of it. We choose. It’s as simple as that.

Take one step at a time and have faith in both yourself and in what experts are telling you until the Law of Momentum takes over.  Once that happens,  you will not even remember why you hesitated, and you will be on your way.  You will also feel much better about it all.
