Each small business owner can use online and local marketing to grow their business.
That is something I believe to be correct.
But , for the sake of discussion I’m going to pretend that they can’t. That for who knows what reason the circumstances of their life have conspired against them being able to get a grip of the whole online and local marketing thing.
But my job is to take people there. To help get a head of steam behind their business that permits it to grow.
Good online and local marketing grows firms through better engagement with the market, better marketing and engaging folks on their own terms and in way that suits them. Increasingly this means through their cellphones and on the internet.
Some small business owners do not want to grow their business in this way. These entrepreneurs don’t believe that they need twitter, facebook, mobile sites, mobile ad campaigns, SMS campaigns and all that fancy pants stuff. They feel this way because their business is ticking a long nicely at the moment.
I am going to be talking about my approach to persuading these kinds of folk that online, mobile and local marketing techniques are for them and worth investing in.
First off I would say that their business is great. I would recognize that that there is nothing better than a great local reputation born through years of honest quality work and personal recommendation. I would agree with them that this is their greatest asset.
Then I’d tell them this meticulously nurtured asset, their reputation, is perishable like milk and cheese. If they leave it untended for too long, it will go off.
Online and local marketing is an opportunity to breath new life into your reputation. It’s a chance let it speak more loudly than ever before for you. It’s a chance to extend your reputation into the online world.
You see good online and local marketing starts with a good entrepreneur, good service and happy clients. Put in layman’s terms if you have these three things in place then you should be excited about the future.
A good entrepreneur is authentic, has a nicely rounded professional persona and is an expert in their field.
Good service suggests that the business knows how best to handle its clients add value to its service and deliver on its guarantees.
Satisfied customers will talk about you. Buy your products and services again and stick with you for a life-time.
So sceptical entrepreneurs, hear this!
A good online and local marketing strategy just takes your core assets namely: being a good business owner, delivering great service and ensuring that you mostly have happy clients and lets them work harder for you.
If you don’t extend your assets and use them to plug and position your business online and through listings and such they you leave your finest assets unused, neglected and under exploited.
By not engaging with online and local marketing as a technique to promote your business, you will be shortening the lifespan, reach and profitability of your business.
You like your business more than that, don’t you?
