The effect of this is often not good, with many users ignoring most of the content altogether as their brains have learned to skim over it. Images on the other hand are almost always unique and so they catch our attention because we are naturally inquisitive. Anything that we have not seen before we are naturally programed to pay attention to, making images very effective.

In a world where everyone seems to be out to make a quick buck and there are more scams than ever before, people crave security and trust from online retailers. Text can be written by anyone and everyone and so it doesn’t portray a great deal of trust. However, images can instantly portray a level of trust because the internet user can actually see the product or the person who’s services they are buying, and this is very comforting. For example, you are much more likely to trust a site that shows you a picture of their ladies t-shirts for instance, than one that relied only on text to sell it.
